Has anyone compared DEXA results with one of those smart scales? Mine weren’t even close.

I think people obsess over the exact body fat percentage too much. Even if it’s off by a percent or two, it’s still useful for tracking progress over time.

Same here. I had one before I started making lifestyle changes and another about 10 months later. Seeing the difference made it feel worthwhile.

I wouldn’t spend the money unless you actually plan on comparing future scans. One scan by itself is interesting, but the trend is where the value is.

They’re not perfect, but they’re much more informative than a regular bathroom scale.

If you’re trying to lose weight, it helps answer an important question: are you actually losing fat or just losing weight?

honestly it motivated me more than the scale ever did. watching body fat go down while muscle stayed about the same was pretty cool

The biggest surprise for me was visceral fat. I was in decent shape but still had more than I expected.

I only do one about once a year. I don’t think I’d get much value from doing them every few months.

For anyone on GLP-1 research, I think fasting glucose, fasting insulin, A1c, lipids, and a CMP are a pretty solid starting point.
