  • Finish most sets with good form before complete failure.

  • Record the exercise and resistance so progress is visible.

Common confusion

Age is not a reason to stop challenging muscle. It is a reason to scale the starting point and prioritize technique, recovery and progression.

Is it too late to start?

No. Studies show meaningful gains even in later life and in people starting with low strength.

Do I need a gym?

No. Body weight, bands and household loads can work, although machines and free weights make progression easier.

Will strength training make joints worse?

Appropriately scaled training often improves function. Acute or unexplained joint symptoms should be assessed and the movement modified.
