How to use the answer

The conversion factor depends on what is being measured

Metric prefixes are simple; laboratory conversions are analyte-specific. The same mg/dL value does not use the same mmol/L factor for glucose, cholesterol and triglycerides.

Mass

1 mg = 1,000 mcg

And 1 mcg = 1,000 ng. These conversions do not require a peptide name.

Volume

1 mL = 1,000 µL

U-100 syringe markings are a separate calibrated scale: 100 markings equal 1 mL.

Molecule-specific

mg/dL to mmol/L depends on molecular weight, which is why each analyte has its own factor.

What the number can—and cannot—tell you

Can this convert syringe units into milligrams?+
No. You need the solution concentration. Use the Peptide Reconstitution Calculator when you know the vial amount and liquid volume.
Why can glucose and cholesterol not use the same factor?+
mmol counts molecules, while mg measures mass. Glucose, cholesterol and triglycerides have different molecular relationships, so their conversion factors differ.
Can IU be converted to mcg?+
Not universally. IU expresses biological activity defined separately for a particular substance.
